what is vision therapy?
Vision therapy is a treatment used to help patients of any age acquire
the vision skills and abilities needed for learning and overall performance.
It is often called vision training or eye exercises. Optometrists who prescribe
and treat vision related problems with vision therapy do so to:
- Reduce or eliminate amblyopia (decreased clarity not correctable with traditional
eyeglasses)
- Reduce or eliminate strabismus (crossed eye or wall-eye)
- Reduce or eliminate vision-related learning problems in school
- Improve reading comprehension
- Improve concentration and performance in school, work, or athletics
- Prevent some eye problems from developing or getting worse
Part of your child's eye examination will include a Perceptual Skills Assessment.
